Leo G. Hickman, age 85, died Sunday, February 09, 2014 in Childress. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Childress Church of Christ with Dr. Mike Henderson officiating . Burial will be in Childress Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Leo was born Thursday, April 05, 1928 in Hicks, TX to Matthew and Mary Ellen (Kyle) Hickman. He and Billye married on September 2, 1949 in Beaumont, Texas.

Leo joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1956. Leo was a 4th generation law enforcement officer and had always aspired to be a Texas Ranger. He fulfilled that dream in 1971, and upon his retirement was the oldest active Texas Ranger at age 72. He loved his job, and was an expert marksman.
Leo was a great husband and father who raised four children. He was a Christian man and was a member of the Childress Church of Christ. He has lived in Childress, Tx since 1971.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Lee Hickman; and one sister, Mary Ellen Hickman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice at PO Box 1030, Childress, TX 79201 or the Former Texas Rangers Foundation at PO Box 3195, Fredricksburg, TX 78624.
